Your Stripe account is where your ticket money lands before it is paid out to your bank account. If you have stopped organising events, or you are moving to a different setup, you can close the Stripe Express account that is connected to your WeTicket organisation.
Note: closing is permanent. A closed Stripe account cannot be reopened. If you want to sell tickets through WeTicket again later, you will have to connect a completely new Stripe account.
Before you close your account
Work through this list first. Once the account is closed you lose access to it, so anything you have not settled or saved is gone.
Finish or cancel your open events. Make sure no tickets are still on sale and that you have no refunds left to process. You cannot refund a visitor from a closed account.
Bring a negative balance back to zero. Stripe will not close an account that still owes money. See How to top up your Stripe balance.
Pay out a positive balance. Any money still sitting in your balance has to be paid out to your linked bank account or debit card before you can close.
Download your tax documents and payout statements. These are no longer available to you once the account is closed. See Where do I find my payout statement?
How to close your Stripe account
Log in to your Stripe Express Dashboard.
Go to Settings.
Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page.
Click Close account.
No "Close account" button?
Then closing the account yourself has not been enabled for your setup. Contact us through the chat in your WeTicket dashboard. Make sure the checklist above is done first, otherwise the request will not go through.
What happens after closing
You can no longer receive payments through WeTicket with that organisation, so your ticketshops stop accepting orders.
You lose access to the Stripe dashboard for that account, including your tax documents.
Stripe may keep some of your personal data after closing, because financial and anti money laundering rules require them to. That is a legal obligation on Stripe's side, not something WeTicket controls.
