With sealed tickets, organisers keep control over how tickets are resold. This helps prevent fraud and avoids tickets being resold through unofficial channels at excessive prices.
When sealed tickets are enabled, tickets cannot be freely transferred or sold through other platforms. Resale can only take place through TicketSwap, where the process is secure and controlled.
If sealed tickets are activated, tickets can only be downloaded 24 hours before the event starts.
After purchase, customers will see a message on the ticket page instead of a QR code indicating that the tickets are sealed. The page also shows when the tickets will become available.
How does resale work?
On the ticket page there is a button that links to TicketSwap. This link directs the visitor to the TicketSwap login screen. After logging in, the ticket can be selected for resale in TicketSwap. TicketSwap will then check with WeTicket whether the QR code is valid.
Once the ticket is sold:
The original QR code is immediately invalidated
A new ticket with a new QR code is automatically generated
The buyer receives the new ticket almost instantly, this ensures that only one valid ticket can exist at any time.
If the sealed period is still active, the new owner will also not be able to view the ticket until 24 hours before the event starts.
