My business can't be verified

What to do if Stripe can't confirm your business details, owners or board.

Stripe automatically checks your business details against the official business register. If something doesn't match, you'll see Incomplete or Invalid on the Review and submit screen, or Stripe asks you for an extra document. That doesn't mean something is wrong with your business. Stripe just needs some extra proof.

1. Check your business details first

Most problems come from details that don't exactly match the business register. On the Review and submit screen, click Edit next to your business details and check:

  • Legal business name: letter for letter as registered, including the legal form (for example Ltd or Foundation). Not the name of your event.

  • Registration number: the number from your national business register. Not your branch number and not your VAT number.

  • Business address: exactly the address as registered.

Keep an extract from the business register next to you while you check.

2. Check your owners or board members

Stripe also compares the people you entered with the business register.

  • Company or partnership: check that everyone who owns more than 25% is listed, with their full name as registered.

  • Foundation or association: check that your board members are listed with their full names as registered.

See the article "Adding board members or owners" for how to change this.

3. Confirm your board (foundations and associations)

If Stripe can't match your board, you'll see "Verify your business directorship". Choose one of two options:

  • Electronic attestation (recommended): you digitally sign a statement. Type your name in the box above the line, exactly as Stripe shows it. Done within minutes.

  • Upload a directorship document: upload a document that lists your board, such as an extract from the business register, an annual report, an annual confirmation or a deed of incorporation. Takes up to 24 hours.

4. Upload a document if Stripe asks for one

If everything is correct and Stripe still can't verify your business, it may ask for a document. Tips:

  • Use a recent extract from your business register.

  • Upload the complete document in JPG, PNG or PDF. No cropped pages, no photos of a screen.

  • The name, registration number and address on the document must match what you entered.

5. Wait for the check

A document check can take up to 24 hours. You'll see the status in WeTicket under Settings > Payments.
